Hurricane Ian Update – September 30, 2022 at 9:40 p.m.

Campus Community:

Damage assessment teams worked throughout today evaluating campus buildings and will continue their work tomorrow to complete a thorough evaluation of water intrusion in some of our facilities. Also throughout the day our campus grounds team and outside contractors worked to remove damaged trees and debris. We made significant progress on all fronts.

To accommodate the time needed to ready the campus for students’ return to classes, the College is shifting Fall Break to this coming Monday, October 3, and Tuesday, October 4, in place of October 10-11. We understand some of you have plans for the original Fall Break the following week that were scheduled prior to the hurricane, and we will work with you to arrange accommodations.

We will provide another update this weekend for students, faculty, and staff to further specify plans for the coming week. Completing damage assessment will allow us to provide more specifics on when students may return to campus residences and when classes will begin, including information about teaching and learning modalities. We understand the impacts of Hurricane Ian are being felt by many in our campus community, and we ask for patience, understanding, and flexibility for those who have been affected by the storm.

Please continue to monitor the College’s emergency site and social media for the most up-to-date information.
