COVID-19 Update for Alternative Spring Break (ASB) on March 9 at 7:05 p.m.

From Courtney Howell, Leadership & Community Engagement

Good afternoon,

The Immersion Planning Team wanted to provide an update in regards to your upcoming Alternative Spring Break (ASB) experience. Unfortunately, due to growing concerns amid the COVID-19 virus, the College has made the decision to cancel all ASB experiences this year. You will be refunded for the trip fee; if you paid through Eventbrite, it should show up as a credit to your card. If you paid via cash or check, we will be reaching out to the Bursar’s office to determine the most efficient way to provide reimbursement.

We hope that you will make the best decisions for yourself in regard to your own travel over spring break. The residence halls will be open over spring break and you are welcome to stay on campus if you wish; if you decide to do so, please communicate with your RA. The Center for Leadership and Community Engagement is working to provide on-campus community activities for all those who have been impacted by this decision. We will let you know when and where those are scheduled once we have determined those details.

We know that your facilitators put so much time, effort, and energy into planning these experiences, and we are disappointed that we will not be able to run these amazing experiences this year. A special thank you to the eight students and four staff members who put their time and talent into making these experiences happen.

If you would like to talk in person or over the phone about this decision, I will be in my office tomorrow from 9-11 and 2-3:30 tomorrow, as well as 2-5 on Wednesday. My office number is 407-691-1244. I’m also more than happy to correspond via email at cchowell@rollins.edu
