Update #3: Hurricane Idalia – Class Changes for Wednesday

8-29-23 2:05 p.m.

The College continues to monitor Hurricane Idalia, which is expected to make landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast early Wednesday morning. We expect sustained winds between 20-25 mph with occasional gusts that may reach 40-50 mph along with periods of heavy rain accumulating up to 4-5” locally.

All Tuesday evening classes remain as scheduled.

On Wednesday, August 30, no in-person classes will be held. Faculty will implement their hurricane plan from their syllabi, which allows for alternative instructional modalities. All in-person campus programming and activities are cancelled Wednesday.

Staff who are able and prefer to work remotely may do so with the approval of their department head or Vice President. If weather conditions and the operational status of the College changes, we will notify you.

Please visit the FAQs on the College’s emergency site for hours of operation for dining and other campus services. Please continue to check emergency.rollins.edu for the most updated information. We will provide the next update as information becomes available.
